Even though there was some rain, God blessed us with good weather for most of the week.
Rayleen and I spent quite a bit of time looking at houses to try see if we could find the right one for us, at the right price. One day we drove into the city and walked to a few real estates to see what was available.
While at one of these, one of the agents met with us and spoke about various houses, but when she heard that we're moving to Toowoomba to get involved in youth ministry, she asked us what church we go to, stopped talking about houses, told us that we need to stop stressing about finding the right house and to trust God to provide the right one. She said that we'll be surprised by what God will do, and then asked if she could pray for us. After praying, this real estate agent, a sister in Christ, invited us to dinner after we move to Toowoomba.
That meeting was a great encouragement to us, and further confirmation that God is in this, and that He will look after us.
While in Toowoomba we enrolled Hannah and Joshua in Toowoomba Christian College, and are expecting them to begin in the second week of September. They are both excited about their new school, though a little nervous too, as they've only ever been to Hervey Bay Christian Academy. So this will be a big change for them as they settle into new classes and make new friends.
We also visited Humeridge Church of Christ and ran into some old friends, Phil and Di McLay. It was great to catch up with them at church and over lunch.
There was a house that came to our attention, and we made an offer and had some negotiations about a price, but while waiting for the sellers final response we became convinced that it wasn't the one for us. This and the fact that we hadn't been able to find any suitable houses in our price range left us feeling down. Rayleen and I spent some time that afternoon walking around one of the parks behind the caravan park where we stayed.
While walking around the lake in the park I was thinking about Peter stepping out of the boat and walking on the water to Jesus, until he got his eyes off Jesus and on to the waves around him and started to sink. While looking at the lake I tried to imagine what it would be like to literally walk on water. As I talked about all this with Rayleen, and as we prayed together, we where encouraged that even though circumstances don't always go the way we think they should, that God is still with us, He is still calling us to "Come" and He's there to help us when we get overwhelmed and even when we doubt.
We decided at that point that we should rent in Toowoomba to start with, and look for a house once we're in a better financial position with jobs. Should have listened to our praying real estate lady.
The next morning we received a call from the real estate of the seller to say that they couldn't accept our offer. We were so relieved and thanked God for getting us out of that one.
Well, that's enough for now. I'll post more on the last two weeks in the next few days. Thanks for staying tuned.
Blessings.
Mike
