Welcome to March. How we got here this quickly, I have no idea. The world is definately groaning at the moment. So many people are going through so many hardships, devastating floods, wars, Covid, so many other things, its all happening. Sometimes it's hard to look beyond what is happening right in front of us, to see better days are coming. So whats been happening with us:
Discipleship Training School
There is much excitement on base in the lead up to the second DTS to be run here since we came. They are calling it Abundant Life DTS and there are a few students ready to start. Please pray with us for more students and for the excitement to overflow into all areas of base. Hannah will be the Leader along with our Base Director (Andre) and Mike will be one of the teachers. Family Visit
We were so blessed to have Mike's dad and step mum come in their caravan and visit us. We got to spend a lovely weekend together and they got to see where we live and what we are up to. We then sent them on their way to explore South Australia with the intention for them to come back and spend the following weekend with us as well. However, the dreaded COVID struck the base and we were placed into isolation, so they continued travelling around and enjoying this amazing state. They are now on their way to Tasmania.
COVID
COVID eventually got us, one at a time, Ray first, followed by Mike and eventually Josh. Thankfully we haven't had it too bad. Please pray for our quick recovery so that it doesn't last more than the quarantine period.
Kangaroo Island
Later this week we are off to Kangaroo Island again to cater for a conference. We are praying that we will be completely over covid and that none of the fatigue would linger.
Base Life
There are so many things happening on Base. I (Ray) have been managing the kitchen and am looking forward to the numbers growing again with the new DTS and with some more people moving in as boarders.
We have been busy with maintenance and renovations and just the general animal husbandry and weed control which goes with living on a farm. Some of the team have moved back to their home countries now that borders have opened, so our numbers are down on able bodies to be able to do the physical work. To help with this, we are holding a working bee on the 9th April. If you are in the general Adelaide area and are able to help with the working bee, we would greatly appreciate it.
We are also currently running a fundraiser to help raise funds to continue fixing the building and bringing it up to comply with fire and council regulations. If you would like to help with that in any way, I will post the link below. Tax deductible receipts are available.
Thanks everyone for journeying with us in what God has called us to. Life is definately an adventure. Please drop us a line to remind us we are part of a village.
Ray, Mike & Josh Smith
