Hey There,
Thanks for journeying with us as we explore the path that God is leading us on, and as I become a worker with AccessTheStory, joining their vision to "see a generation ENGAGED in God’s Story; EQUIPPED through God’s Story; and RELEASED into communities of faith who are LIVING OUT God’s Story."
We’re excited to be able to present to you our very first newsletter, so now you can not only stay up-to-date with our online blog or email, but also have the option to receive our updates delivered to your home. So for those of you who aren’t online you can still stay in touch. J
If you’re seeing this online or were given a copy from a friend, and would like to receive updates yourself, please let us know and we’d be more than happy to add you to our mailing list.
Hope you enjoy. Be blessed.
Mike
Update from Hervey Bay!
Family First!
As you’ve probably heard, we were back in Hervey Bay last (Anzac) weekend for my brother’s wedding. Congratulations Derek and Telaine! We had a really great time with the family all being together and it was a beautiful wedding and amazing reception. J
Ministry Update:
I was invited to bring the message at Urangan Baptist Church, and it was a blessing for me to be able to share part of God’s Story and to see it impact on lives there. It’s always a privilege to see God at work. Thanks to Pastor Sam Yerro for this opportunity to give a bit of a demonstration of what ATS ministry is like, and for the support you and the church have continued to show.
Later that Sunday was our afternoon tea catch up time. I was amazed at the number of people that were able to come and it was so cool to see seven churches from the Fraser Coast (as well as three Gold Coast and one Sunshine Coast) represented at this event. God is good.

Mike at Urangan Baptist Church |
Thanks to all who could be there on the day, for the helpful questions and discussion, and for the support you’ve shown. It was excellent to be able to catch up with everyone and we were really encouraged. Thanks to Pastor Bal Ram Sami for allowing us to use the facilities at Hervey Bay Church of Christ for this afternoon tea. I also want to say “Thank you” to my family for coming along and showing your support.
It was awesome to join in with the worship and hear a great message on Sunday night at Hervey Bay Baptist Church, and so good to catch up with friends there as well. Thanks to Pastors Keith and Ray for making us feel so welcome as always.
General Ministry Update!
Since being accepted by ATS I’ve begun seeking a team of partners who will support us in prayer, and who see the value of this ministry and believe God is calling them to support me financially. This will allow my time to be freed from my current employment, and be released to work full-time with AccessTheStory.
Some of you have already received one of our Info Packs. If you haven’t yet and would like to, please let us know and we will post one to you.
What’s Coming Up?
1. ATS Orientation in SA - Flying to Adelaide for orientation/training and the Story-Teller Summit, 10-14 June.
2. VergeQLD - Spread the word about Queensland’s first Verge event coming to Hervey Bay 27 Sept-2 Oct. Aimed at youth and young adults from 15 years and over. Cost: $320.
God really is using Verge to change young lives, and we’re excited to see what He will do here in Queensland.
Please be praying with us that God will draw young people to this camp, and work in the hearts of those who attend Verge. Invite family & friends.
3. Sequel - Following Verge we would love to see participants join in this easy-access follow-up discipleship program here in Queensland.
4. ThePath - We’d also love to see those who catch the vision of ATS at Verge to take part in the easy-access training program to see people equipped in sharing God’s Story with others.
Toowoomba Life! – by Ray
Firstly I’ll just let you know that I am not a writer, I tend to leave that to my gifted husband, but I shall give it a go.
A bit of background…
Since we moved to Toowoomba on the 4th September so much has happened. God has directed our steps to places we never could have dreamed of. He has provided us with amazing jobs, house, school and church. We have been so blessed.
Work is going really well, Michael is at present coordinator of the Mental Health Recovery Program in Toowoomba for a well known support agency, He has started discussions with his state coordinator about leaving this position once we have raised enough support to release him to do full-time ministry with Access the Story.
I have been blessed with a full time job at our local hospital doing admin work. This job just happens to be straight across the road from Michael’s work, which is very handy seeing that I don’t drive.
The kids are enrolled in a great Christian school up at Highfields, which is less than 10 minutes away and they can get the bus just at the bottom of our street. Also my niece, Shaniya, has moved in with us to study Early Childhood at TAFE.

Autumn leaves, Toowoomba |
Josh has gotten into comics lately, mainly Superman, Batman or Avenger ones, so yesterday he was very excited to go to his favourite Comic Book Shop (he is becoming a regular) for Free Comic Day. They had artists there who gladly drew him a comic picture which will proudly go up on the shelf in his room.
Both kids go off to school camp this week. Hannah goes on Tues – Fri and Josh from Thu-Fri. Should make for a quiet week at home. Hopefully it won’t be too cold for them.
It has gotten cold the last few weeks. The people at work joke with me about how rugged up I am and it’s not even cold yet. Should be interesting once winter actually hits.
I am in awe of the beauty of Toowoomba. I am loving how the leaves of all the trees are the most amazing colours. Everywhere you go at the moment, they are red or gold or somewhere in between. I have been busy in my gardens planting veggies, hopefully they will survive the cold.
Don’t forget if anyone is in Toowoomba we would love to catch up. There is always a bed here.
