It has been a long time since we have done a newsletter, so I was thinking being Christmas and all that this would be a good time. There is so much to catch up on, but I will try and remember all that has happened.
So where to start…..
Well, in case you didn’t know, we have been part of YWAM South Australia for just over a year. At Christmas 2019 we came down to Adelaide to visit Hannah for 3 weeks.YWAM were in the suburb of Elizabeth which is 40 minutes north of Adelaide. While we were there, the Base Director took everyone who was at the Elizabeth base at the time (YWAM Tassie were visiting) to visit the base in Norton Summit. (YWAM owned this base but was renting it out to Teen Challenge, YWAM was planning to move back to the Norton Summit base at the end of 2020).Anyway we went and did the tour and during that time, I had a dejavu moment where the hallway at the base was the hallway of my house in my dreams for the past approx 3 years. I was a bit shocked, but as we continued doing the tour, we then went through a gate to the sheep paddock and then again dejavu… I had carried a chook bucket through that gate in my dreams. God certainly got my attention through that experience. So over the next 6 months with a lot of prayer and processing and heaps of confirmations, we decided to move in November 2020 to Adelaide and join YWAM. This certainly wasn’t on our radar before visiting the base.
So after renovating, packing up and selling our house in Toowomba,
we then moved to Elizabeth to help YWAM pack up 15 x 2 bedroom units and move them all in our car, 2 x toyota hiace vans and trailers (and a truck for a couple of loads) to Norton Summit. We moved in at Norton Summit at the end of January.
The base in Norton Summit is beautiful. It is a 24 acre property in the Adelaide Hills. The building is almost 180 years old. It is absolutely beautiful, but in need of major repairs and renovations. Mike and I did our DTS (Discipleship Training School) from April to October. (Everyone who joins YWAM has to do this 6 months of training) Since being here we have been part of running 3 camps (2 youth group and 1 church), run a missions experience day with a youth group, worked with the homeless each week, done schoolies (loved it), spoken in churches and youth groups locally and at Port Pirie and Port Augusta, just finished an Oral Bible Translation Course run by YWAM Perth, and done enormous amount of work on the building and property. In 2 weeks we will be serving at a 1 week Conference being held on Kangaroo Island.
Josh is here living with us. He is doing a course in Alcohol and Other Drugs. This will enable him to work in a Rehab or Counselling service.
We hope you all have an amazing Christmas. We look forward to hearing from you all and letting us know how your life is going.
Love Ray, Mike, Josh
