Hi all from a cold and wet Norton Summit.
Spring has arrived on the calendar, but in reality, it’s not quite here yet, as you can see from the photo taken today. I think this winter has been the longest on record for us Queenslanders. We are not used to the cold starting in March and it hasn’t ended yet. And the unrelenting rain that comes with winter in the southern states. Mind you, the wildflowers are starting to bloom, so we can see that spring is just around the corner.
This newsletter is going to be very different to our other ones. I am going to be very open and honest about what is going on in our lives and our desperate need for your prayers.
Firstly I, Ray have been busy on the YWAM base with cooking, cleaning, and keeping up with the leaks in the building from all the rain. Stepping out of my comfort zone and dealing with all the animals while the team were on outreach and having to deal with 5 out of our 9 lambs dying due to various reasons (generally the cold and wet weather). I have also done a full thickness tear to my rotator cuff in my shoulder. So lots of physio is in my future. I have also been asked by the Adelaide City Salvation Army to teach basic life-skills cooking in Term 4 of this year to those who are disadvantaged. So I am really looking forward to that.
Josh got a job for a few weeks, but the company he worked for puts unrealistic expectations on their employees and thus, change staff every few weeks.
Hannah has been busy running the Discipleship Training School and leading the outreach. They are back now and she has had a couple of weeks off to recover before getting back into things.
We were able to have a few days away at Christie’s Beach to enjoy a family holiday. We had one day where the weather wasn’t freezing. I think we just have to get use to living in the south.
Mike over the last few years has been suffering from depression which has spiralled downward this year. The last 6 months have been incredibly hard. His doctor has tried him on different medications with no success. He has had to pull out of YWAM and other ministry. It has become very hard for Mike to live here at the YWAM base and the whole situation has put a lot of pressure on us as a couple. So we are asking you to pray with us for direction on what to do.
We feel our time here with YWAM is coming to an end, but we have no direction on where to go and when to go. So we would really appreciate you partnering with us in prayer.
To those who have been contributing financially, we thank you for your ongoing support and understand if you decide to cease this given these changes and uncertain times.
Thanks and continued blessings,
Ray & Mike
